New Bathroom Fan Smaller Than Old

Simply remove the old fan attach the new housing hook up the ductwork and wiring and you re done. Wear goggles while cutting. Simplify the installation process when installing a new bath fan with a new easy install model. But if the new fan is bigger than the old one you will need to enlarge the hole in your ceiling.

Upon getting into the attic i see that there used to be a fan in this location before and the hole has been patched. If it has the same measurements as your old fan you will be able to install it immediately. Now the hole is slightly too big and when i put the grill cover on the fan i can see the hole. If the gap is larger than 2 you re going to have to make the hole bigger before you can make it smaller.

Cut a new piece of drywall to fit the hole you just made then cut out a hole in this piece to fit your fan housing. No cut or roomside bathroom fan models can be installed in new construction or used to replace older fans in existing construction. I just had an electrician replace a bathroom fan light.
